The threads in the sliding block are doomed to fail because they are plastic, and plastic threads are inherently weak. With the natural stress from heavy use of the rod holders together with the waves on Lake Pend Oreille, the bolts used to attach the quick release base will not stay tight and loosen frequently. Of course, if you tighten them too much they strip (because they are plastic). For reasons unknown, Fish Fighter will not place threaded inserts in the sliding block to receive the stainless steel bolts used to attach the quick release mount to the sliding block. Threaded inserts are super cheap and an easy fix. I have had two of these sliding blocks fail and almost lost my rod and pole holder set up one day. Now, I have to double check the bolts every time I go out. Had I known of this weak point, I would not have purchased the system. FF tripped over the goal line here.

Sorry to hear you had trouble Fred! We have thousands of these out there on the water and our Pro Staffers use these on a daily basis and haven’t heard of this being an issue. We were glad to get that new replacement block shipped out to you, but please let us know if we can be of any further assistance!
